In the second quarter of 2022, the top 5 film and television apps on iOS in Kenya demonstrated diverse performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides an insightful look at their market presence.

Netflix saw a consistent rise in weekly revenue, starting at around $941 and peaking at $2.1K by late May. Weekly downloads showed a relatively stable trend, fluctuating around the 1K mark. Active users ranged from 37.9K to 40.6K, with a noticeable increase towards the end of the quarter.

Showmax had no recorded revenue during this period. However, the app's downloads increased from 355 to 572 weekly downloads by mid-June. Active users showed a steady rise from 2.1K to 2.5K by the end of June.

DStv Stream also recorded no revenue but experienced variable download numbers, peaking at 458 downloads in mid-April before falling to 136 by the end of June. The active user count fluctuated between 5.9K and 8.7K, with a notable decline in early June before recovering.

Amazon Prime Video showed a steady revenue stream, starting at $614 and moving up to $891 by the end of June. Downloads had a gradual increase from 141 to 231 weekly downloads. Active users remained relatively stable, ranging from 2.5K to 2.8K.

MyDStv Africa did not record any revenue. Weekly downloads saw a downward trend, starting at 164 and dropping to 97 by the end of June. Active users fluctuated between 2.1K and 2.8K, with a significant dip in early June.
